I checked my chain today, and it's a good thing I did, there was almost 2" of freeplay in it.  When I loosened the axle nut, the plate on the back of the swingarm (right side, opposite sprocket side) was loose.  I could then hand loosen the nuts on the alignment bolt.  I figured I'd relieved tension or something.  I tightened the chain by turning the nuts on the bolts, but how do I know the wheen is aligned properly?

On my brothers/dad's bike there are hash marks to check each side against.  I see no such marks on the magna!  How do you know it's square?

I might just run it by the dealer and let them check it...and the chain.

You can measure the sideways play with a tape measure etc, maybe even one of the fancy laser light setups from hardware stores.
Or you can do it the old fashion way, take the adjusting nuts off and count how many turns and then equal that on the other side.

Counting turns I am going to try that, because I still don't believe it is true.

After writing this I remembered that is how I did it when I was kid.
