I wanted to see if you guys had suggestions for a couple of issues I am having with my 84 VF700C

First, I replaced the clutch line and that fixed my problem of having no clutch.  However now, after riding 20-30 minutes, I lose pressure again and have to "pump" the clutch handle to get pressure.

The second issue is after the bike has warmed up it wants to idle at over 3000 rpm.  How can it get that adjusted down?

Not sure on the clutch issue.  Sounds like you might need to bleed it again.

On the Idle issue check your choke and make sure it is shutting off totaly.  Also there is a black knob under the carb for cyl #1 to adj the idle speed.  If you reach your left hand down while sitting on bike you can feel it.  Be careful though there are hot bits in there when it is warmed up.

And to add to what Kerry said make sure she is all the way warmed up before you go adjusting the Idle....

I have had to lean the bike almost all the way over on its side and lightly tap on the bleed port area to get a good clutch bleed on my old 84 magna; even while using a power bleeder.

If adjustment fails to get the idle squared away, you may have a cracked or loose vacuum line.  That'll make 'em idle high.

No need for a reason other than the journey.

If you still have air in the line it will keep migrating toward the top. Ron's clutch went out a few weeks ago so we replaced the fluid and bled the line at the bleeder valve and Ron rode for a while we went back and I bled the line at the top , he hasn't had any prolems since. But be careful and have a big towel to make sure you don't squirt fluid on the paint.

Perfect guys.. Thanks alot.
I just read somewhere else how to bleed the line at the top, so I may try that.

And i didn't know about the idle adjuster knob.  I will try that tomorrow as well (plan on playing hookie from work).  And it is possible the vacuum lines could be bad as well.  All good things to check, and i have a start point now.

When bleeding make sure you start at the banjo bolt coming out of the MC.  That connection is known to catch a little air.  It will also let all the air out at the top so you don't pump it all through the rest of the line.

I don't have a V45 but my V65 doesn't have any vacuum lines (unless the PO took them off).  As stated before check that the choke is going back to the off position on the carbs.  My choke cable has stuck before and it shows off on the handlebar but was still slightly out on the carbs.

Good luck
