Anybody out there have any experience with the Shadow? My brother has offered to sell me his and I might buy it. Now don't go crazy, I am not getting rid of Betty. He will give me 10 yrs to pay it off, and as poor as I am, I might need more time, but that is pretty reasonable...no interest. With my 60th bday coming up this summer (and you're invited to the party,) I may not make it that long. Of course, I never thought that I would see 26...I was wrong.

Also, in case I get it, I may give it a guys name like Lamont Cranston.Does anyone remember if that is the Shadow's name? You know, the old radio show, "Who knows the evil that lurks in the hearts of men? The Shdow."

Thanks.

I don't, but my brother-in-law has had a shadow he bought new for about 4 or 5 years.  He is very happy with it, and of course it is a Honda so it will probably be rock solid dependable.  The terms are right, I say go for it!!

I'd be sorely tempted as well !     Just to have another bike which runs, hee hee.   But seriously there are several in the parking lot here at work and the guys who have them love 'em!

I have had an '88 1100 and a '95 1100.  I loved both.  Very reliable.  Above average power.  Both had over 30k miles and nothing done to the motors.  They didn't change them much from '87 until just recently, except having more than one model.  The sabre is just like the older models.  I also have a good friend with one over 40k.
I would consider the opportunity.

Who me??? Guess this might be a good time to mention I bought another one      :D   Bought a '96 CBR600F3, it's no where near street legal, it's strictly a track bike for me to go play on.
I can hardly wait.

Thomas, I'd say go for it as well.

After reading the posts, I think that I will get the 1100, if my brother is stil willing to sell it. The catch is that his son may want it. What's worse is that if Jon wants it, he can have it FREE. That's a deal that would be hard to pass up. He's young and just married and maybe the wife will keep him off one for a while.
I did notice that cycles are like those potato chips, bet you can't just own one. This would be my third in the stable. The magna, the basket kawi and the shadow. Next on the list is a dual sport or a dirt bike.
Gonna put in a little track for the boss' grand son to the south of one of the paddocks. I  wouldn't mind riding around on it myself. It's still to wet up here to start a project like that yet.
I'll keep you informed of progress or disappointment.

Jeff, that bike looks like a lot of fun. I'd love to have a track bike but I don't have the garage room. Besides I still have a few upgrades to do on the Magna. :)

I attended a bike maintenance class this weekend at a local shop, and I learned some stuff about brake lines. Stainless ones of the same size are great but some of the bikes mods are running -1 and -2 stainless lines which have a smaller diameter and are supposed to provide quicker braking response. However, the brake fluid gets hotter and can not transport heat away as effectively so they begin to fade after a few laps on the track. Might be something to keep in mind if you notice this.

Have fun.

The 1100 is still up in the air for me. Won't know for a time, but Ihave my hopes up. They may get dashed but I won't be any worse off than I am now.

Looks like a pretty nice sled you picked up, Jeff.

It also looks like it may be called Lamont or Cranston or maybe both names. The link was interesting. Learned a lot about the Shadow, maybe will name it Allard for a real esoteric name. That was the real last name of the Shadow. Learned that from the site.
