2 Questions carbs and handling

Hi guys first post here.

I have a 1994 Magna.  I bought it used and the previous owner had put some Jardine pipes on it but had not rejetted the carbs.  As it stands right now it runs ok but backfires when you let off the throttle and at idle after it's warmed up.  I bought the Dodge jet kit, but I'm not really sure that I know what I'm doing here.  Any advice?  Any good mechanics in the Frisco area that are reasonable?

Second question, I recently replaced the rear tire but did not replace the front.  Since then the front shakes pretty bad at speed IF I let go of one of the handles.  The only thing I can figure is that I didn't replace the front tire, but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.  Any thoughts about what could give the front end a shimmy?

Well the carbs I am in Montgomery not a hard job once you do it once or twice LoL.. The tire issue I would first check the pressure that has a lot to do with it about 36 or 38 in the front depending on tire...

I'm curious, is that cold or hot?

I've been keeping my front tire around 34 after it's warmed up (Metzeler ME880), but I'm really not sure what the exact pressure should be.  Or if I should measure it after riding for a bit or after sitting.

I always check my tires cold have a compressor at the house and check them often but that would be 36 to 38 some I think even run 40 cold pressure... Air expands as it get hot so the 36 warm may only be 20#s cold...

IF you read Metzelers site they recommend 40 for front and 42 for rear on the ME880..
I usually ran mine about 38-40 front and 40-42 rear.

Allen, are you headed to the wrench session also?

I'd still love to take you up on the carb cleaning offer from a couple of weeks ago.  I'm replacing the plugs tonight (well, as soon as my tool kit gets in.)  Hopefully that will fix some of the vibration I feel at 5k rpms.

Btw, is it ok to drive my bike atm?  Like I said somewhere else, maybe another forum, but around 5k rpm I can really feel a decent vibration at my feet.  Almost like holding a gas powered weed eater.

Is that somewhat common or should I stay off of it?

I've heard someone tell me it's completely common, and another tell me to stay off the bike.  So I figure I'll ask other 3rd gen magna owners.

I say check your pressures and ride it I think from your pics you have stock grips so that transmits some vibs but it could be a number of things but I think nothing to stop you from riding your bike see ya at the wrench session!!!
