Okay,

I did the exhaust modification on the MOOT tips & tricks section and it just isn't loud enough still.  I don't live in an area where neighbors would be affected by the noise so I really want to do some custom headers for this thing.

I think I have a shop that can do it but they didn't seem to confident on the jet kits.

First of all would a Jet Kit be enough to compensate for the headers?

Secondly, has anyone gone this route already that could give some input?

I'm not living in Texas right now as I am in the military but ideas would help me to get something going up here.

Thanks guys,

One thing to take into consideration is that the muffler mod on the site is really a removal of a resonator and not a baffle.  The baffle is further up inside the muffler housing.
I have long thought about finding a long bit to reach the actual baffle and drilling it, as I feel confident that it would make them deeper and louder.
As far as jet kits and such compensating for building a new set of headers, well there is a big bit of mystery.  You would need a analyzer to get an idea of how close then its hit or miss from there.

How long and what size?

Jeff, I have not actually measured hehehehehe.  I have to catch Devin and measure his muffler.

Instructor50,
Have you tried taking the end plates off completely?  When I bought my 2000 the end plates had been removed and it was very loud.  Might try that.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room!

Does what Dan is suggesting require a jet kit?[/quote]

Greg Cothern

I personally do not recommend removing the end plates completely.  But it would require shims at a minimum and more than likely jets as well.
