Rear lights acting strange.

When I first got my bike, the front brake wouldn't activate the brake light, and at times, the rear brake also would not.

For like 6 weeks straight everything worked ok.  Now, tonight, the back brake  still activates the brake light.  But my left back turn signal quit working all together (running light not even on).  The right rear blinker works, but the running light doesn't come on.

Front lights are fine.

I checked the fuses a few days ago and they were fine.  I'm going to check them again, hopefully tomorrow.  I assume this is a short, but figured I'd check here first to see if it might be something easy.  =)

Have you checked the bulb?  I am guessing that the bulb is a dual filament (like a hi/low beam on a headlight), and possibly the low beam (read: running light) has burned out.   Oops, I reread your post and realized that you were talking about the rear lights.

Another dumb question, do the rear lights serve as running lights, or are they only for turn signals.   Hmmm . . . I can't remember.  You would think they would.  Oh what do I know.  I will say this, I believe that one fuse (the 15 amp fuse that is closest to the front) is the only one that controls the lights.  So if it were blown, you would not have blinkers on the right side either.

If you got a voltmeter check the voltages also under the seat is a wiring junctions.  Check that they are all plugged in.

Have you washed your bike recently?  If so, you might have gotten water in there.  You asked for easy problems, and you got one.  

I had a problem involving water and my turn signal not working on my 50 minute ride to work.  I was lucky that it dried out on it's own, but my friend at work guess the problem right off.  He was going to put some white electrical grease?? on some connections if it hadn't fixed itself by the end of the night; which it did.

Ok, this is why I always post on here first.

I never noticed if the rear lights acted as rear running lights or not.  So, I'd have to bet it's the filament on the left side.

The rear lights are off they do not come on as regular driving lights they are turn signals only !!!!!! Now the rear brake light is a running light and brake light but not the 2 turn signals !!!

Yep, either brake should activate the brake light, on Master Cylinder there is a brake light switch, might give a cleaning and try again.

With or without power pulling the handbrake lever you should here a little click.  I have always assumed that was a switch to activate the brake light.
