Ok, I haven't been in the group but a few days and I have already got myself into a hole. LOL

My bike came with floorboards that I wanted to remove. When I went to take out the bolt I managed to twist the head off. This is the bolt that goes through the bracket where the peg would normally go. So I decided to drill out the bolt. I managed to get the top part drilled out and then I discovered that I hadn't screwed it out enough to clear the bottom portion. I then tried to drill straight through to the bottom and as luck would have it I missed and still have about half the bolt left at the bottom. The one solution that I came up with was to remove the pipes and then take the bracket off the bike completely and drill from the bottom. Does this sound feasible? Does anyone know of a better way? Please help!

Thanks for the input!

Well you probably only have to loosen the pipes to get the bracket off but sounds about right never had to deal with floorboards but you will have better access to get at the offending bolt and bracket so yeah sounds good !!!!!

Taking the headers loose is not too difficult -- at least it wasn't on my bike.  Installing the large engine guards was nigh onto impossible without it, and it was a breeze once I took the four nuts off and dropped the front headers down a bit.  :-D

Just be sure you torque 'em back to spec.  (Nine ft-lbs, according to my manual.)  Alan has testified in a separate post about these nuts working loose.

Gee thanks just what I don't need are more problems.  :-P

Actually I think that I can get it off by taking the muffler off and the extension pipe and move the bracket toward the back of the bike. I will give that a try soon. But more than likely it will be this Sunday before I can get around to it.
