Hi,
Just curious... my '02 Magna is my first chain bike in a long time and I was wondering the average lifespan under normal use.  I have 13K on the bike now and the chain and sprocket still seem fine.  Typical?
Thanks.

So much of that is dependent on your riding style and maintenance.  I have heard of guys getting 25K from a chain and 40K from sprockets but I don't come close to that

We recently had a thread with everyones opinions on this topic and I can't seem to locate it. Maybe it was lost with the switch over.

Only a couple of opinions mattered to me though, and mine was one of them. LOL Before I get lamblasted over that you guys will have to get to know me and my razzing ways.

Maybe someone can link the thread to here.

Man, sometimes I really envy you guys who bought your bikes new.  Mine came with 11,000 on the clock but I have no idea what if anything the previous owner replaced.

(The tires for example definitely don't look as if they've got 11K on them, but - despite the claim of the dealer who sold it to me - they're not "like new" either.  So how many miles do they have on them?   It would be nice to know.)

It's very frustrating.

No need to let it frustrate you other than the dealer misleading you.

Most of us bought our bikes used and in the same predicament. Assume nothing has been done but than again only change what is needed, referring to hard items, or you will be wasting dollars. I would change all fluids brake, antifreeze, oil, check chain adjustment and alignment, check for loose nuts/bolts (esp. fork and axle), battery fluid level, tire pressure, adjust rear brake, etc., so I start out knowing what I have.
