I've been meaning to post and let you guys know about a little trick I use to mount things to my handlebars (temp. control for heated gloves, cigarette outlet for plugging in accessories, etc.).  I was walking around a sporting goods store and randomly saw some scope mounts for a gun.  What do you know they were 1" mounts, perfect for the handle bars.  I use double stick tape and a zip tie to secure the object (could use small screws too, depending on what you are mounting) to the mount and can mount just about anything to my handle bars now.

Just a FYI...

Here is a little more detail.

First you need two parts.

The base:

And the Ring:

Secure the base to whatever object you want.

Attach the ring to the handlebars.

Then attach the base to the ring (or attach base > ring > handle bar, however) and you're off.  Cool thing is you can purchase several bases and swap out accessories in seconds.  This set up will set you back around $20 or so.  And you don't have to use weaver mounts, you can use what ever brand/style you can find, as long as they are 1" mounts.  Most packages come with two rings and two bases...I guess they figure you're going to mount a scope or something!
