Since finding MOOT, I have to say that I have learned a TON of information about my new purchase. I picked up a '97 Magna after a 30 year hiatus from riding. What a joy to be back on two again. Thanks to all who post to this Site.

It seems that the Mapam-Restyling Forward Controls for the Magnas are not in current production. I ordered them last night and received a return email stating that they may not be available until Sep. or Oct.

Does anyone know of other options for the forward controls other than the Jardine's? I read so many good reviews about the Mapam's that I would really like to get my hands on them. I may be waiting till October, but patience is not one of my virtues.

Might try some of the other sellers, they may have some on hand.
Jardines are nice and cost quite a bit more....

I spoke to the company in Chicago that imports them a few months back and they stated that they were going to stop importing them because of fuel and the sagging dollar, they couldn' t make money on them.. Don't know if they followed through with that or not...
Here is a tech tip on the Mapam FC's.
My shift rod broke.. Have you ever tried to find a Left hand 6 mm die in America???
I eventually found that a Shift Rod off of a Yamaha 250 (the V-Twin type they sell now) will work, it's about 1/2 inch too long, but you could take it to a machine shop and have them lathe the rod (on the right hand thread side!!!) cut off about 1/2 inch and add some more threads to make it purrrfect... I have not done that yet on mine and it's usuable, but it's a long up shift.
