Slow delivery typical?

I believe in supporting those who support us so instead of ordering through one of the big guys such as J&P Cycles I ordered a stock length SS brake line along with a shim kit from DD. A week and a half went by without seeing the order, so I called and was told they hadn't gotten around to shipping it yet but that I would definitely have it by this weekend.  On that info, I tore my bike down Thursday night to save a little prep time this weekend. Well, it's Sunday and still no order.

Having my bike sitting in the garage torn apart isn't the end of the world; I have other transportation.  However, the lackadaisical approach to shipping is disappointing; I just received a postcard from a friend in Spain that took only 5 days to arrive but I'm 2.5 weeks (and counting)for a stock item coming from the Carolinas to Maine?

Before I order more items from DD I would like to know if this is typical or if my experience is an exception; I want to order more items from DD but... Any feedback would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I bought jets and shims from Dave.  Took about four days, as I recall.

I ordered shim & jet kit from DD.  I received advice not to order by email and to order by phone.  I received mine in less than a week if I recall.

No problems here, but I did order over the phone. I suspect you will have yours soon since you talked with someone.

Thanks to all for the replies; I believe in always giving people the benefit of the doubt so I will order there again, hopefully with quicker results.  Thanks.

PS
Just FYI I placed the order by phone at the onset.

Yes, I did mention it.  Maybe it was just a bad week for him-we all have them.  I was just concerned that this lengthy delivery time was typical; it's nice to know either way, in case next time it's an emergency "gotta have now" part.  Thanks.

You do know that DD is moving to Az? So maybe that's why the delay? :?: Read this maybe will help.

Here is a clip from the discussion.

.......Yes, boys and girls it is official.  I got it straight from the horses mouth.  angry

Here's what he said,  "Chris,

Yes, I am making a big push to finally move the Bullhead City, AZ, hopefully by the end of the year.  Ozzie, my main helper for over ten years has moved away to Wilson, NC, so I dont know who will cover this area. Once I make the move I plan to be in a bigger building and doing more newer V-4's, in addition to the parts we sell now for the older ones.  I'm in the planning stages now, and will make some posts in the near future.

Dave Dodge".......

Bullhead City, AZ is right on the border of Arizona and Nevada, about 100 miles from Vegas.

This what it says:

Dave Dodge rides into the sunset?

I didn't talk to him myself, and I know he's been threatening to make this move for at least 3 years that I know of, but I heard it from a fairly reliable source today, that Dave Dodge will be heading to AZ to be near family at the end of this year.  Great news for some, a bummer for others of us that live close to him now.  Thank god for UPS/FEDEX/DHL
