Hey guys,
My V45 just plain runs, sweet!!!    But the CB900 I'm putting back on the road is having some carburetor problems and I need some help.  I've heard from the guys on the CB750/900/1000 forum that it is a vacuum leak somewhere and they probably need synced.  I'm out of my skillset here and need a hand.

Ken, I own a "mercury stick" -- device for syncing carbs, and have accomplished same on my Magna.  Also have a complete compliment of tools, and would be pleased to help you if you want to give it a try.  Can you nurse the beast down to my place?  I live off 1826 just past the intersection of 45.

Wish I could come help you out Lawrence.. Syncing is the most satisfying to me when working on carbs... It starts to smooth out almost instantly.   My old gs850 was my first sycn.. You should have seen the mercury when I put on the hoses.. All over the place..  Smoothed right up.

Lance you are right.  Only one of my carbs was out from the other three, but it made a noticeable difference in sound and vibration level.

Syncing the Magna is a bit tricky because the adjustments are a bit hard to access.  I bought a right angle drive ratchet which solved the problem for me.  I also put the bike up on a lift so I didn't have to stand on my head.

I bought a 90 degree flat head screwdriver and put on a leather glove on my right hand..  HOT!!  Especially the center water tub on the carbs.. LOL..  No hair on my forearm for a week

Sounds like a good deal.  I've gotta get it licensed first, the current tags are from 1992

The guys on the CB forum have suggested I replace the intake boots as they could be leaking as it sat for 17yrs in storage.

BTW: the symptoms are that it stays revved up when I let off the throttle and the throttle / carb linkage  is snapping back into place like it should.

WOW!! That makes my head hurt!  Maybe you shouldn't try to ride it down here if you back off the throttle and it doesn't return to idle.  It is gonna be necessary to get it stopped to work on it.
