This was a looooooong day, but a good one.

Starting out at 0H-dark-thirty. Curtis gets me in #2 position and when we hit the first twisties going south, he is soon a small red tailight in the distance.

I kept hearing this "Fraidy Cat" meowing in my ear until the sun came up. He called me a few other times during the day as well. You guys are some aggressive riders.

The first few pictures I took didn't make it on the disk in my camera because I forgot to put a disk in it (DOH ).

Sometime after the sun came up, all these yellow balls came flying off the back of Bob's magna. Seems he was going for a gumball/jawbreaker/whatever and dropped a bunch, bouncing them all over the road.

After we stopped in Burnet and got into the park, Curtis sidelined us so I could set my camera up on the crash rail of the Valk to try to shoot some video of the park ride. Lights, camera and no action by the time we pulled over to address Don's nail in tire issue. I think I pushed the Off button on the camera instead of the shutter release which starts the video recording (double "DOH" ). Too bad too since it was mounted down low behind the front wheel.

Duke's worked out pretty good for us in a clutch while we were waiting on Hog Alley to fix Don up with a new Avon Venom tire. Don got to break that sucker in good today. He kept right up there with Curtis and Bob all day. Bob had to relinquish his #2 spot in line, something about Don riding on his rear tire I think.!

I felt much more comfortable on the Valk as the day went on. It is going to take some time to get my trust up in my tires and my ability. This taking curves at excessive speed is still giving me white knuckles.

Greg C. had a great pucker moment at the off ramp in Georgetown, TX. Thank goodness he wasn't hurt. Keep us posted on the Queen's effort at getting that yellow highway marking paint out of your jeans.

Curtis did a great job keeping us on some adventuresome roadways. Seems like I spent quite a bit of my time running upwards of 100 mph catching up to these guys occasionally on long straights. That Valkyrie will walk it's talk. We blew a few cagers off the F.M. roads passing them on the straights.

So it was dark getting back in DFW when we started splitting up on I-45.

Curtis is spreading rumors about another ride next Saturday the 11th, riding east (a little more leisurely) and getting some more MOOTsters on board for the jaunt.

All you "honey doers/kiddie doers" see if you can get a pass and come on out. It is a fine time of fellowship with a great bunch of riders.

...and somebody remind me to load the disk in the camera and push the "On" button next time.

It's 10:50 and I still got my boots on. Jeez I'm fadddddiiiiiiiiinnnnngggggggggggggg........

Glad you guys had a great day (minus the flat tire).
I called just to say Hey, and ride safe, hope you got the message...
It sounds like from your write up that Curtis has no issue cornering on his car tire...

Glad you all got home safe...

Thanks for posting the PICs!

I am GLAD no one had a camera or video when I decided to do my Pirouette in oncoming traffic!

Coming off the interstate inroute to the Harley Dealership to get a new tire for Don's bike when I find a big oil slick!  Before I knew it I was skating along on my left side wonder how in the world I got there!  ONLY to hear Curtis inform me I was facing the wrong way!
After an initial reaction to try and upright the bike while still sliding as if I were on a 300 lb or less dirt bike  I realized I was going to have to pick it up the old fashion way, only to slip in the oil and almost bite the dust again!  Awaited for Greg O. and Dave to come help me pick up the almost 800 lb beast off the blacktop!

I had a slight tightness in my back and left hip that some Advil all but completely cured and a bruised ego for my mishap.  I was EXTREMELY lucky and very glad I was wearing my gear!  I see some quality riding pants in my near future, or wearing my chaps.  I had some very slight fraying of my left lower pant leg that made me VERY aware how lucky I was...

Two rides for two now on bridge-out encounters, however this time we were not to be denied.  I scouted the creek bottom briefly and came back to the group where they were waiting after the barracades.  My only words to them were "It's doable" and they were ready.  None of them went down to double check my assesment even though lots of dollars were at stake.  Thanks for the trust guys, I hope I can continue to live up to it!!

We rode down the 30 degree bank of loose, powdery dirt and then across the creek bed on 6 to 8 inch rocks that had been rolled to a somewhat even surface.  After returning to good pavement, Greg C. reminded us to be sure and scrub the dirt from our tires, so we were dipping and bobbing back and forth for the first few hundred feet.

What a great bunch of adventurers to share a ride with!!  I had an awsome time!

Let me see if I have this right....If Curtis leads you will not make it to the destination, something will crash and burn, but it will be a spirited ride, correct?  8-) :-P :P Now that's my kind of leader!!!! Never a dull moment.

I just posted in the events folder what I hope will be a ride with a little less excitement.........at least in the form of bridges out and bikes dropped!
