All right guys, I need a new front tire.  I am pretty sure it is the original Dunlop on front.  13,000 miles on the odometer.  The back tire has been replaced already by previous owner..  Should I stay with Dunlop? or go to Metzeler, considering I won't be needing a new back tire for a while.. Is it a issue to run different brand of tires??   I am pretty sure this has been discussed and cussed before, but I am to impatient to look back thru old threads    Thanks

I ran a bridgestone back and metzeler front on my magna. She never seemed to mind.

It seems to me that many people on here are sold on the metzelers. I definitely had no complaints about mine. Only left the bridgestone because it seemed practically new.

Allen - Avon does not make a "stock size" tire for the front of the Magna.
I run the Avon one the back and the Metz on the front..
I got more than 13K out of the Metz on the front and 16K+ out of the Avon on the back.

There is a Avon for the front but it is not "stocksize" but it is close enough... Avon AM 26 roadrunner in 120/70, a bit shorter but not much..

I run the Venom-X on the back.
By shortening the front tire, it will ride fine, but throw your Speedo off. If that is OK with you, go for it.

Lance, I ran a Metzeler front with a Dunlop back and they worked well together.

No need for a reason other than the journey.

I am running the Avon A26 on the front of my Project 96 and it handles, rides, and etc JUST FINE!  Especially with the Avon Venom 170/80 out back!

Thanks guys for all the replies.  I will start looking now.  I think I can make it till it gets too cold to ride. (If that ever happens)

I had the metzler on the front and now run a dunlop.
The dunlop, to me, seamed to require a bit more force to turn, aka pushing on the handle bars, at slower speed.
I went with the dunlop due to price more than handling.

I have went through 14500 miles and 2 rear dunlops since I have owned the bike.
Little over 7.2K on each rear. the front made 13K
