Hey guys,   As I was showing my bike off :-) today I noticed an imperfection on the cast aluminum part above the crank case and below the heads.   It looks allllmost like it may have had a hole punched into it and then repaired?   or a really sloppy job of casting.  Has anyone else noticed this?   :? I'll post some pictures tomorrow if i can finds some batteries.

Does it look like these in this thread on the Magna RIders Forum? If so, they are normal and nothing to worry about. :)

Believe it or not the indentation is cast there so they can get a socket on the bolt just under the indentation!!! WaLa

If you read that article that chad posted, there is a guy who took his bike back to the Honda dealership. The salesman said these indentions were not suppose to be seen, because these same engines were used in "some crotch rocket" as well.  The bike he is referring to is the infamous and highly renowned  VFR 750.  Of course these bikes had all the plastics on them and you would'nt see the engine!!    I guess Honda forgot the magna's engine would be exposed!! :D

Yep Allen is correct.

Not sure why the one in the PIC has the extra "spatter", but EVERY Magna hs this indentation that I have ever seen.

Yeah, but per the above, you wouldn't be able to get a socket on the bolt anymore..

after looking at my bike it also appears to have some splatter around that area,  it's not quite as bad at the one in the previously mentioned pictures.   It's curious....

do grinding wheels work on splatter?
