Hello all!

My clutch has worked it's way out towards the beginning of travel on my lever, and I'm sure it needs an adjustment. I have read other forum posts that suggest the adjustment at the lever should be left for 'fine tuning' and the lower for, shall we say, less fine adjusting.

With that in mind, before I go tackling this on my own, could someone give some very basic advice on adjusting the cable to bring it away from the top of my lever travel? There seems to be two pieces I could use to adjust at the lower end, and it would be a great help if I could get some rather simplified instructions - which piece to use first and frankly, which way to turn things to get the clutch engagement moved!

I presume what I am experiencing also lead to a spike in rpm's when I tried to goose it a little for a highway pass. It did accelerate, but at one point the rpm's shot up without resultant acceleration. With the clutch engage/disengage being right at the top of my lever travel, I figure it's getting looser, yes?

Hi,
Even better, send me your e-mail and I'll send you the Honda Common Service Manual pdf; it's about 7.5 MBs. It will answer that and many other questions for you.

Larry loosen the locking nut, turn the cable adjuster in or out till you have about 2-3mm of a gap at the lever and housing.
IN otherwords only about 2-3mm freeplay in the lever.  This will be pretty darn close.

Thanks all for the advice! Hopefully it will warm up soon and I can go adjust my clutch!

Thanks again...
