Sweet picture.  Good camera?  I take my pictures with my cell phone ...which is why I can't get pictures like this ha!
Deals Gap (Tail of the Dragon) professional photographer cost me $6..
Also note the clip on water bottle cozy.. Handy to stay hydrated.

Really nice photo. These are the kind I like to see. 8)

I don't plan on using hotels...so I'll be bringing my sleeping bag, a small tent, and my toothbrush. HA!

Cot or air matress at my house.  You're welcome to crash here a couple of nights or so.  Our weather is so variable you can expect mild 50s and 60s to down in the teens, who knows?  Depending on the jet stream, a low over your area usually sends Canadian air straight down to us with nothing to slow it down but a few barbed wire fences in Kansas!   The only weather advice I can give is to watch the jet stream.  If it is in a northerly pattern, you're good to go and temps here will most likely be mild.  However if it's doing that southern "dip" down into southern Oklahoma and northern Texas it gets Ca-Ca-Ca-COOOOLLLLLDDD here!

Curtis

Thanks for the offer.  Yeah, its definitely going to take quite a bit of planning.  Sleeping by the side of the highway or a little off the road is in my opinion going to be the worst part because picking a good spot will be tough.

I'll ride below 10 degrees as long as I A) have good gloves B) there isn't ice/snow/slush on the road.  The weather conditions will ultimately determine the ride.

Geez, you got some steel in your sack!

I ditto the rest of this bunch. If you need somewhere to hang here in Dallas, I don't have a wife, kids or pets; just a bunch of hondas and two furnished bedrooms.

Bring it on.

Yow! Maryland in January! If you make it to Texarkana, I've got a travel trailer in my driveway you'd be welcome to stay in. You'd have your own TV, kitchen and pottie. You'd be about 3 hours from the Dallas/FtWorth Metroplex where most of the MOOTsters hang. There's only three of us that I know about in Texarkana. Just don't bring Billy with ya. I didn't like him. You can bring George though. He was kinda cool in a geeky sort of way.
I'd rather be outside than in.

Well since Valkyrie owners don't lose their Mootster status, there are actually about six of us in Texarkana, and quite a few (Mootsters at heart) in our neighbor Arkansas. If your going to do 700 miles a day and are headed straight for Texas, looks like I-81 to I-40, then I-30 will take you from New York to Dallas TX. It's a nice southerly swing south to Texas that should keep you on the warmer side of the gulf stream. Also Tenn and Ar are beautiful states to travel through, even on Interstate. If you come by way of I-30 you will cross the Texas, Arkansas state line in Texarkana. We will be glad host or assist you any way we can.. Y'all come on down, ya hear 8)  :D.

PS Who is Billy and George, Guy you lost me on that one, must be an inside joke :???:

Well, sadly gang, I had a little setback over the last 2 days.  I now have to replace my speedometer AND my saddlebags.  As you see in the image below, I burned a massive sized hole in my saddlebags (one bigger than the other).

Here's the story gang:  I was ripping it on the highway (est. 120-125 mph)...i can tell because I was hitting 10,000 RPM in 6th gear.  I guess the HEAT was so great off of my exhaust in the 50 degree weather that it caught my saddlebags on fire.  I noticed an unusual amount of smoke, and when I pulled over.  This was the carnage...

So, I need to replace these saddlebags.  I want to buy some hard bags (plastic)...if you guys can suggest any...that'll be great!  I don't want to ride to Texas w/o bags...luggage rack isn't enough :).

Thanks for all the offers to let me stay though...i'm def. going to try to make it...MOST definitely.

Smile and laugh at the picture :)  :D  :P  ....Just imagine...SMOKING SADDLEBAGS!

I recognize those burn holes :(, but if the tops part still look pretty good they are salvageable. When mine burned I cut the bottom out and had the upholstery shop sew leather bottoms back. Most upholstery shops have throw away pieces laying around that are big enough to make the repair.  The leather bottoms may dry out eventually, but won't melt. Replacing the bottoms squared the bags back to there original shape and actually improved the looks.

I don't think the Leatherlykes for Harley will fit your Magna -- the mount points are in the wrong place, for starters.
