I gotta ask....  How can the seafoam police approve all pictures if the minority of the pictures contained seafoam!!!   I'm calling for a vote of no confidence against hootmon, aka seafoam police.   :x

All in favor say Aye

All pictures include SeaFoam

I think you've been staring at the can of seafoam too long hoot.   LOOK AWAY FROM THE LIGHT   I only saw it in two of them.

Ok..
SO all of you that are contemplating going to the Dark Side.. Here seems to be an important factor in your tire selection.. Side wall stiffness.. The stiffer the better..

The tire I purchased "Nankang" has only 1 poly ply in the side walls.. This makes the side walls very flexible and light, which MAY be an advantage on a car, but not on a Motorcycle.

The result of the non-stiff side walls  is quite a bit of "smooshiness" (That's a technical term for those who don't know). What this means is you slow down before a turn, go into the turn, and accelerate, right?
When you accelerate with non-stiff side walls the tire flexes. This drives the rear tire outside the turn during the turn.
If you have ever been on a motorcycle with a big rear tire (240 etc) you have felt the offset that is caused by the rear tire taking a different track than the front tire.. This is what if feels like with a soft sidewall. The only difference between a larger rear tire feel and a flexing sidewall, is the large tire is a consistent offset, where a flexing sidewall varies this effect based on acceleration... (somewhat un-nerving). Think sort of the firetruck that has the guy that steers in the back as well...

I think I would really like the tire, IF it has stiff sidewalls. It is quiet, provides good traction and other than the smooshiness, handles well in cornering situations (that's kinda like hearing from the doctor that the operation was a complete success, but the patient died).

Questions???

I'll try to remember to check this afternoon when I get home.  I will have two examples.  Remind me if I forget to check.

I will admit that it does possibly look like a can of seafoam in the pictures next to the mailboxes....  but then again it could be a bottle of ketchup.   I will give you the benefit of the doubt this time Hoot.    :-D  Cuz i'm suchhhh a nice guy!  Sneaky Hoot,  I'll get even :-p

At the MC annual meeting I was at last night I noticed 2 guys had car tires, talking with one whose bike was none other than a 1800 VTX tricked out a bit. He mentioned running a high PSI similar to a MC tire for the same reasons you referenced Hoot.

Any chance you noticed Side wall plys? Did both of them have the same thoughts, or did you only talk to the one with the VTX?
What was the other bike?

I forgot about the fellows once we pulled into the restaurant to eat. The one VTX I happened upon as we were leaving and checking his ride out. He was running a Goodyear Assurance, too dark to see the plys. I was admiring his LED's.  :-P THAN I noticed his CT.

Maybe more than 2 last night, these I happened upon as one rode directly in front of me and the other I told you about.

We need to check the internet for this info regarding plys.
