Well, I finally got around to replacing the battery on my Magna today. I had been able to buy myself some time when I realized that the battery connections were loose, but the battery had been in the bike since I bought it three years ago and was getting noticeably weaker in starting the bike.

I had planned to buy an Interstate battery CYTX14-BS even before I found out that that was what was in it already, but the local retailer did not have what I wanted in stock and I need the bike on Tuesday to get to work, so I wound up buying one at Cycle Gear. I got the "Megaboost" CTX14-BS. It remains to be seen whether the name refers to power output or to their profit margin on the sale of the battery. It was just as pricey as the Interstate would have been even though this one was made in China. Hopefully it will offer better than the usual Chinese Reliability And Performance.

The package does not indicate anything about what company made it, which just fills me with confidence. For that matter, it is unclear whether it is an AGM battery or not, though the activation sequence is the same as Yuasa show in their Technical Manual for their VRLA batteries with the exception that the Megaboost instructions direct that the sealing caps be pushed firmly into place before placing the battery on a charger.

1) I'm sure the Chinese battery will be everything the WalMart batteries are..  :???:
2) After you filled the battery, did it have screw in plugs, or did it have a strip of hole plugs that meet with the battery flush? When you filled with the electrolite, did it fill the battery to the top indicators?? -
If flush, not filled - AGM
If screw in caps, filled to indicator - Standard wet cell.

I had never heard of spiral cell batteries. I'm going to have to more about them. I didn't see m/c batterie son Optima's site. Do they offer them?

That's currently the issue I've only ever used Optima for spiral cell batteries and they don't make any batteries for power sports I was hoping someone knew of another manufacture of spiral cell batteries.
