Rear lights don't work

Hi all, I'm back after a long break.  The Magna is still going strong, but I still have the nagging issue of no rear lights.

By this I mean that the tail light and plate lights don't work.  The brake light portion of the tail light works when the brakes are activated, and the blinkers go off and on like they should, but no constant light from the tail light.

It is a 83 v45.  This is the only problem that I am having right now and it is keeping me from riding so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Does anybody have a wire diagram for the lights on the 83's?

DJ,

I am not sure what is there but if you will visit the Magna FAQ section on the forum there is a link to Magna manuals to be down loaded in PDF format.

Found this on the site below.  I had the same problem with my headlight this weekend and cleaned the starter switch and it fixed the problem.  Here is the link to my post.  http://www.magnaownersoftexas.com/forums/index.php?topic=3496.0
If that doesn't work search headlight in this forum.  Scroll down and I explain what I did.  Good luck.

TAILLIGHT FAILURE

First, check the bulb. If it's good, the problem commonly is worn or dirty contacts in the ignition switch, which has separate circuits for the taillight and main power. Verify with a VOM. Treat by disassembling the switch (watch out for the springs) and cleaning with contact cleaner. Polish the contacts with crocus cloth if corroded. If a replacement switch is needed, you can get an alternative part from DK and probably other MO houses as well for much less than the Honda part. Disadvantage is that you would then need 2 keys.
