air filter

Can someone tell me if there is a supplier for aftermarket air filters for the 1983 V-65 Magna? We have a Honda dealer here but until I'm sure the bike is going to run out ok I'm trying to keep the cost down. My filter is completely gone, and if I understand correctly I need a filter for the bike to run properly. Am I right or wrong ?

You can get OEM replacement filters through Bike Bandit or PartsFish for about 33 dollars.  Or, you can go K&N replacements for about 45 bucks.

There may be other alternatives like EMGO but I've not been able to find that manufacturer for the V65.

motodepot.com has UNI filters for the V65 for 20 bucks.  FYI.  No experience with them at all.
