Sliced my fuel hose

Hey guys:

I was being a good maintenancer...if that's a word.  I changed my air filter 2 days ago, and I was riding to the gas station to fill up my tank because I had ridden it till it was very low on gas.

Well, I had cleaned the insides of the air box with cleaning solvent/water, and I thought the drips going down my leg were water.

I made it within 200 feet of the gas station, and I ran out of gas.  I was like...that's weird.

So I preceded to push my bike uphill 200 feet...in busy traffic.  No one offered to help, and I even had like 4-5 bikers ride by, and no one stopped.

I pulled into the gas station sweating like hell, went to fill up my tank, started filling it, and gas was leaking out of my fuel hose.

Apparently, it got sliced somehow, although the tank was not resting on it when I changed the air filter.  I turned off the gas on the petcock, and I walked into the service station for a rag, and a tie.

I wrapped the rag around the gash, and tied it tight.  When I turned on the fuel, it still poured out, so it wasn't going to make it back to my place.

I then proceeded to ride for 2 miles turning on and off the petcock just enough to let gas pour into the engine but not enough for it to back out of the gash.

After my finals after this week, I plan on putting in new hose lines.

Will any hose lines do?  Or should I buy something specific?

Purchase hoses at your local auto parts house of the correct inner diameter, meant for gasoline.  Other fuels take different materials, so be sure it is for gasoline.

Good luck.

What Lawrence said.. Since the hose is sliced, cut off an inch of it and take it to the store with you, and they can match it up for you..
You also need to know how long of a piece you need.. 1 foot, 2 feet, etc..
