Drops Between Gears

'99 Magna with 6500 miles.  Every once in a while I will down shift and instead of going solidly in gear the trans gets between gears.  When it does this, everything is in freewheel and there is slight noise and vibration.  I pull in the clutch, downshift again more postively and all is well.  This only happens when my foot gets lazy on a downshift.  It has occurred between 5th and 4th and also between 3rd and 2nd.  Anyone else ever experience this?

Curtis, I have had the same problem when I get lazy with my '99 Orange Magna. I have found no solution but to be positive about the shift.

Thanks Bob, that's what I was hoping to hear.  As long as I know it's not just my Magna alone.  I'll try to be more positive with my shifts.

Curtis my 96 used to the do the same thing if I shifted in a lazy manner.  But if I shifted with purpose then it was fine, EVERYTIME.
My Valk will do the same thing but not with less frequency.

Same here with a '96. Glad to hear I can stop saving up money for a new clutch or tranny!

I've got a 97 and it does the same.  For a while I thought I got a lemon (just got it a few weeks ago, my first bike).
