I am taking a group up to Talihena/Broken Bow/Route 1 this weekend. Will be leaving from some point around 380 and I-75 Saturday morning. I will post more details here later today.
This will be a ride up, scrape the pegs, eat and come back about dusk if not before. Parts of it will be a spirited ride but I will accomodate anyones riding style. (except for Curtis and Terry, even with the rocket)
There will be some sport bikes along so we will make plenty of stops for their comfort.
Just show up at the meet point gassed up and be ready to go at KSU time.

Well, Terry, it would be great to ride with you again. My only hope is that I can start out ahead of you in the corners and power away from you in the straights!!!!

Had a great ride! Terry with Maryann and friend Keith, my friend Jeff left about 730 and headed NE. This route took us through Bonham and then NE on some fun! secondary roads to Chicato where my friend Jeff picked up something in his tire and stopped us. But wait, Terry was there with his grab bag of emergency stuff and soon we were on the road to Paris after a tire plug and air pump, about 23 miles. After $200 and an hour off schedule we were on the road again. Stopping for the obligatory lunch outside of Paris, TX, we headed N thru Hugo and Antlers on 271. Made a right on 144 and looked for Indian Hwy. Stopped once to water a tree and look at a snake. Found the road without any signs and headed up and over the mountain on a FUN tree covered twisty! This again connected us with 271 S of Talihena. Got gas and chatted and decided we were out of time and had fun already so we headed back. Long boring ride back, should have stuck with the route we took to get there.
Had misty rain most of the trip, temps were between 41 and 55.
Thanks for coming Terry, it was good to have you along!

Glad you guys got out and about.  I wish the weather had been better for you.  Well, it turned out I didn't work yesterday ...........or friday.  Been sitting at home for the last few days nursing flu symptoms.  Hopefully I'll feel fit enough to go back to work tomorrow.

Did anyone take any pics?

It was a good ride, Mary Ellen loved the spirited ride you lead. Bob's friend Jeff cut his tire on something, no foreign object found, actually looked like 2 cuts with one leaking bad, would not hold air. Jeff never had a plug and I think maybe skeptical this would work, me also as this was a slice not a hole, once at the shop in Paris as we dismounted Jeff wonders out loud and thinking of his wallet says, you think this might hold, it's doing pretty good and didn't lose any air after Bob checked.

Come to find out Bob got 10K on his first car tire because he can't grow up and stop acting like a teenager along with a few wheelies, :-P and this one doesn't look like it will fare much better. If you're s tire...you don't want to be on back of the Rocket. To my surprise Bob did real well in the turns with the wide rear tire. 8)

One sharp turn we took at a good clip a car was in the on-coming lane, normally not a problem except when you have a lot of unexpected water running off he hill on the road. Bob did not have a choice but to take it hard, Jeff stood his up, went to the other side of the other lane and I stood mine up to just cross over the middle line. I felt at the speed I was at there was a good chance of going down, Jeff thought the same, Bob - got lucky or one good tire.

On the straights there was no way I could keep up, although I was 2-up, being single would not have mattered against Bob and his 2300 cc of pure Rocket fuel and Jeff on his R1 1000cc's of a race bike and I was lucky to keep hem in my sites on the corners.

Had lunch at Bodacious BBQ, the meat was great, potato salad was so-so and the sauce was alright, prices were good and portions plentiful. I could eat here again soon and up that way again will plan to.

When Bob's a phone number don't count on it being right so don't save the one above.

Looks like you guys rode either through Ivanhoe and Telephone, or through Lamasco.

My wife grew up in Telephone, and most of her extended family is still there.  Pretty country.

Glad you all came home safely.

Yep, Telephone was one of them. I think Direct was another.
I couldn't keep up with Jeff on the straights He blew by me a few times.
The only pictures I got were of Jeffs flat and plugged tire.
If I email them to you Terry I am sure you could post them for me??
I was just lucky coming into that turn and seeing it in time, I was worried you guys behind would come in full throttle and loose it. PTL no one went down.
Hope you are feeling better Curtis.
