Sparkplugs

Well, I pulled the plugs out yesterday evening to have a look.  The electrode is a light tan color which suits me, but what is causing the black area around the bottom of the threads?  Is this normal?  What do you guys think?

The black area at the bottom of the threads is leading me to believe I may be a little rich on the air/fuel mixture screws. This winter I may go back to 2-1/2 turns on my mixture screws vs. 3 turns out with my 42 pilots. However, that may not be enough.  No popping on decel, but I may be able to tone the richness down quite a bit and still have no decel pop.  Hmmm, just throwing some ideas around.

The coloration on the threads is absolutely normal..  You read the electrode color..

From the racers on the 2-stroke board, they read the ring on the insulation right outside the electrode. The oil on the threads are normal.
