Speedometer Gearbox

Does anyone happen to have a speedometer gearbox to an 86 V65 that I could buy?  BikeBandit has it but it costs just over $100.  The little tang that turns the speedometer cable snapped off of mine

Ya it sure is!  My only problem is that last week I purchased one from ebay that was labeled 83-86 speedometer gearbox.  When I got it I found out that it's too big in diameter.  So I'm not sure if the 86 V65 maybe had a smaller front Axel than before.  The one I got was off of an 84.  Maybe the guy I got mine from actually shipped a V45 gearbox or something?  From what you know, do all the V65's have the same size axle and speedometer gearbox?

You could ask the seller to measure it for you!!

Yeah, we had a guy on here for a while (Dan) who had a '85 v45 (I think) and he had a very hard time finding a speedometer for his bike because it is a little different that year.. He did eventually find one, and later sold the bike..

Just putting another request out to anyone who may have or knows someone who might have a 1986 V65 speedometer gearbox.  I'm having no luck on EBAY or craigslist so far.  There are lots of 83-85 but no 86 yet.  Thanks!

Thats a hard nut to crack I have called all around Houston looking. No Luck even called a few places in North Carolina and east coast..

If you search for used Motorcycle parts on Google, you will find a couple of services that will broadcast your request to lots of Motorcycle junk yards.. Any junk yard with your part will contact you via e-mail.. I've done this a couple of times with success, but it may take a few days..

Silverado, Thanks a ton!!  I can't believe that little circle box costs over 60 bucks, but at least you found the part!  After I get the other major engine problems sorted out I will order the gearbox!   Greatly appreciated
