I recently notice that when my motor oil is some what cool. That when I shift the transmission does not do the typical clunk into second gear. But after the bike has run for a while it comes back. Presently I'm running 10/40 Synthic. The Northeast does not get extended case of extreme heat like in Texas. The highest it gets is around 95 for 3-4 days at a time. Should I change the oil to 15/40 when the warmer weather gets here or keep running the 10/40 ? If I do change the oil to the 15/40 do you think it will keep the clunk in check ?

Honestly probably not I run 15/40 Royal Purple Syn and well the Valk still makes noises as will the Magna.

Get use to the clunk I agree with Allen.

Probably just some normal backlash from old age wear.

My body has the same problem (bang, bang).
You are not paid for what you do, but rather for what you will do and when that time comes, you will be highly underpaid.

could always change out the shift star for a better design. it had less clunks and was easier to shift overall. check out http://www.factorypro.com/ and look for the magna section. you will find they have a jet kit and a shift star with a upgraded roller bearing and heavy duty spring. I put this in my bike. There are others that have had great success with the clunk being reduced, easier shifting and less effort to get into gear too.
