My turn signal has been very tough to activate, and today the switch handle broke off on my way to work.  Am I correct thinking that the entire switch assembly needs to be replaced?  If so how much do you guys think those parts may cost me?  Would that be a viable used part, if I could find one in good shape?

An ounce of prevention...
If the handle broke, it's broke, unless someone has one laying around for parts..
Both my bikes had hard signal switches.. I've taken both apart, cleaned and greased and they were much improved.
Is you have to buy a replacement, I suggest Pinwall salvage, just Google pinwall motorcycle..
You will get the whole harness, but you can just swap out the handle and clean and lube... You should be back in business..

I had a post on this last month.
You have to replace the whole thing. Little over 100.00
Easy to replace about 30 min. to replace

I think yours was a little more than a Hundred Dollars...
You replaced yours with a Harley Davidson, didn't you?

I had the same thing happen to me about a year ago. Your best option is to track down the complete part off ebay or from a salvage yard. I bouth mine off Ebay for $40 shipped used about 3 months ago.

Here is a tip that I found out however - You do not need to remove the entire light handle section along with the wiring to replace the turn signal switch.

When you remove the 2 mounting bolts that hold that section together you will see that the turn signal switch is held by a single washer and small phillips head screw. Simple unscrew the repalcement switch from the handle internals and swap if out with the one that is broken and connected on your bike.

Alternatively if you have both broken peices you could try gluing them back together to give you a temporary solution to the problem.
