do you shut the fuel off and run the bowls dry? I haven't been shutting the petcock off, I guess I need to start doing that.

When ever I know I'm going to lay my bike up for an extended time. I heavily sedate the gas with Seafoam. Then I close the fuel petcock and start the bike. I let it idle until it runs dry. I've been doing this with all the equipment I have and have never had a problem with starting. This past weekend I went out to my bike turned the gas on. Waited a couple of seconds and hit the start button. She fired off on the second turn. The bike has been laid up since November.

Its best to fire it up every 10 days to 2 weeks with lots of Seafoam than let it run dry.  Running it dry can dry out gaskets etc in the carbs.

Took the old smoker out on Monday and it fired right up. Rode it around the block a couple of times, ran like a top. Guess it just needs to be started and ran once a week to keep her happy.

I have to do the same, busy with my dirt bikes getting them up to snuff with jetting changes and put one up for sale.

okay, I found out why the "cheap" lights I bought were so cheap. after 2 weeks both light buls were burnt out, and apparently nobody makes or carries replacent bulbs for them. (I'm such a cheap bastard :)). So, after a littler looking around found this set at Oreileys auto parts for $30. Much smaller, which is what I wanted in the first place, much brighter, and bulbs you can actually replace.  Oh, btw, sorry but no seafoam in this pic.  go ahead and put it on my bill :)

the old bulbs have contcts on the bottom similar to a turn signal style tail light. but they also have a large metal flange halfway up the base for mounting. everyone I showed it to just looked at it and scratched their head :)  looking forward to riding to work next week so try out the new lights. Cold and rain this weekend so won't be riding until monday.

That is a Jardine bulb I bet.. My wife has the same ones.. I found a double filament hallogen bulb that was the same size. I soldered a copper wire between the contacts and they work great, so don't throw away the fixtures..

I posted this to another forum, (I didn't figure there were too many Jardine lights on Magna's)...

This post is in hopes of helping someone else out that may have Jardine Aux. lights.

I purchased a lightbar and Jardine Aux lights from someone for my wife's '03 Sabre. It was a great deal. We had some trouble finding the odd single element 30 Watt Incandescent bulbs and they were $9 each.. The 1st one blew out about a year later.. When I went to buy another bulb, they are no longer available..

I found a Dual 15w Halogen bulb with the same odd base, so I thought I'd give it a try as a possible mod, before junking the perfectly good Chrome housing...

I was able to solder a 14 gauge wire across the two electrical points and the lights are brighter than the originals and should last longer being halogens.

Since the old bulb was 30 watts and the new ones are dual 15 watts, they should draw about the same power but better results.

You can purchase these bulbs at JPCycles.com P/N ZZ33437 for $7 each.. Like I said, they are brighter than the original bulbs and I'm hoping they last longer ..
(they have so far, and the old bulbs would turn black on the inside over time, the Halogen's don't)

Hope it helps someone..

What no pictures?
Did you click the link.. There's a picture.. AND no SeaFoam required as it's not MY picture..

IF someone really needs pictures, let me know and I'll get some.. It is a task though as I'll have to disassemble one of my wifes lights to remove the bulb..

Good call!, That's the one.
I figured I would just keep the light buckets since they do look nice and when I find another use for them I will just try to find a whole new socket assembly to use other style bulbs in.
Speaking of lights, I was looking at the Adjure headlight post, but when I follow the link I cannot see the picture. I just get a red box with an X in it. (I also don't see any of the smiley's on this forum either) Not sure why. I would really like to see that light, sounds like a neat conversion.
