Has anyone on here done the Harley headlight conversion on their magna?  I came across this on the delphi forums
http://forums.delphiforums.com/MagnaRider/messages?msg=6054.1

I've been looking into this vs. HID, but I think that this may win out since I've read alot about HID kits causing glare for oncoming drivers.  I can pick up an Adjure Diamond cut headlight off of Fleabay for around $50.  I'm just wondering what kind of results folks have seen with this conversion.  I think just about any upgrade helps these poor Magnas, but I want to make the right upgrade since this one ends up ruining the original lens.

I cannot comment on the Harley style headlights on a Magna, but can for a VTX headlight.  The VTX has a MUCH improved reflector design etc for a greatly improved usable light.  Looks great IMHO, easy to mount, and plug and play so to speak.

Sometimes you have to... Just hoof to the bulb Terry suggested in a tread made a big difference..

My wife sure can :-x

Going to spring for a Mustang seat, forward controls and passenger peg extenders when I get my bonus from work (She doesn't know how much it is).  I'll probably go ahead and do this Adjure headlight conversion and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Well, I finally ordered the headlight today so it should be here in a week or so.  Here's the light:

I'll be sure to take pics and hopefully be able to do a beam comparison on the garage door.

Got the headlight in the mail the other day and decided tonight was the night I was going to start the process.  After much modification, I've determined that the newer magna's must have a little bit different headlight bucket than the 90's magna.  I cut just about everything off of the plastic headlight bucket other than the mounting tabs and this Adjure headlight is simply not going to work like the one that was done on the Delphi forums.  Looks like I'm back to the drawing board and am out a headlight bucket :x  Anyone have a stock headlight for sale?

Sorry it didn't work out..
But, thanx for being willing to try a new cool project..

Maybe its time for the VTX conversion....just wish it wasn't $200

I'm more bummed that I've now basically put the bike out of commission until I figure something else out.  Its supposed to be upper 70's for the next few days here in Illinois which is quite rare for this time of year.

Yes, you have determined correct. I need a glass lens from a newer style Magna. How how is your glass lens?

That's perfect Hoot!  I never thought of that! Maybe I'll duct tape my maglite onto the handlebars 8-)

In a thousand pieces in my garbage can.  After busting it to get it out, I determined that a heat gun works perfect for loosening the glue that holds the lens in :x

After feverishly combing Ebay last night for a new headlight and getting frustrated because there was nothing....I believe that I will cut the mounting points off of the old headlight housing and JB Weld them onto the back of the new housing.  I'll try to retain as much plastic as I can (well, what's left of it anyway) and try to fortify it by building several layers of weld around each piece.  I guess if it doesn't work my headlight will fall out going down the road and I'll be in the same situation I'm in right now anyway.
