I was wondering what peoples experience with H3 auxiliary lights vs. projector bulb lights..

I still want to add extra lighting to the front of the new Red Magna, and some of the Projector lights are nice and small.

I do NOT want these lights to be seen by others (although it does help!), but I want these lights so that if my main headlight goes out on a dark stretch of country road, there is no issue with me getting home..

So, do projector bulb lights put out good light at a reasonable distance, or do they disperse a broad light for a short distance??

Or??

Sorry but do not know what my driving lights are but it helps a little.
To me it fills in some of the shadows.  I don't know how long my bulb was out before I knew it was out.
I got the greatest increase of vision was when I changed my headlight bulb.
I have posted about the bulb I used.  Terry and I still have not gotten together to compare the brightness of our bulbs.

I think mine are a low quality fixture, regardless I believe if I check, it would be a broad short throw. Mine are 55 watts each mount the bottom of the radiator mounts.

I have a nice long dark ally to try out the lights, be nice to see the comparison.

OK.. Terry and Robert..
What type of bulbs do your lights have??
As far as the headlight, I took Terry's advice and have been very happy, but yes.. We need a showdown in Terry's alley..

My real question is about projector lights.. I've has H-3 lights and they are fine, but are a little larger than most projector bulb lights..
I'm interested in opinion on projector lights.. Do they throw adequate light a reasonable distance or not?

I put Constalation lights on my bike. They are a projector type. They are small which is nice because it does not clutter up the front of the bike. They are a combination light set. They are extremely bright and put the stock light to shame. They throw enough light to light up my entie street which is about 500 feet.  I have them aimed to match the angle of my stock light. The bulbs are H3 at 55 Watts.

I was told my driving light are not a projector bulb.
If projector bulbs are alot more in price I myself would not pay extra.

I am a better bowler than that. LOL

Next weekend is a new moon so if Terry is available we can compare the brightness.

Tentatively it sounds good.

FWIW I have teh PIAA 1100X lights, undermounted on a Cobra lightbar (the Cobra lights were worse than the stock headlight... yes they were that bad).  While I like the light spread, they don't seem to last as long as PIAA says they should, and occasionally finding a replacement takes awhile due to backordering.
I've also installed an HID lamp in the headlight from DDM Tuning... and very pleased with intensity though beam spread from the stock reflector is still dissapointing.

The Showdown didn't happen................I think Roberts headlight got skeered and broke his clutch cable. He came over and picked up me and the trailer to haul the bike home. I had an extra 18 volt battery under my seat for a little boost.

Stay tuned.......it ain't over yet.  ;)
