Exhaust

I am having my carbs rebuilt and cleaned out so I figured to do some work while it is down. I have take off the exhaust and it is very rusted. The bike was originally in the Midwest so that is expected. I am looking at other ones but I want to know if I can just polish/scrub the rust off of the exhaust? Should I look at other exhaust what other years will fit my Magna?

It depends on if you want to keep it original or you want to change them out to something different. It also might help if we knew what bike your talking.
