Does anyone see a problem with hard wiring the cooling fan to on?

The fan thermostat on my '85 V45 is dead and I would replace it if (1) I wasn't cheap and (2) I remember someone at one point suggesting that it was possible to tear the radiator taking it out due to possibly seized threads.  Currently I have a manual switch on it, but besides wearing out the fan motor sometime in the future (which could happen anyway) I can't think of a reason to need to turn it off.
