Cover conversion

On an '82 v45 there is a sight glass for oil measurement.  In 1983 and later there is a dipstick.  My question is can the 1983 clutch cover be used on the 1982 model?  Would their be any modifications necessary?

I would say that it would work since the dipstick goes in the cover behind the clutch basket. I can't say for certain that it would since I've never tried it.
