Does anyone know where I can locate the rated horsepower of my 1984 VF700C.

I found a place to do a dyno run on my bike and thought it had more horsepower that the dyno shows.  Sure seems to run strong to me.

Anyone interested in checking their bike out in the Houston area, Honda of Houston @ Highway 290 and West Road will run a dyno test on your bike.  http://www.hondaofhouston.com/custompage2.asp?pg=dyno

They currently charge you $33 for three runs on your bike.

Check their website during the next couple weeks.  They are going to be running a $20 special (1 run only) on the dyno and by appointment only.

Personally, I think the three runs for $33 was a pretty good deal.

So far I have only found one listing(http://www.bikez.com/brand/honda_motorcycles.php) for the hp for your bike and it is:
82.00 HP @ 9500 RPM

I believe this to be rear wheel hp. since the listing is very near to what my V65 tested, 100.00 HP @ 8500 RPM. The Interceptor is listed at 122.00 HP @ 10500 RPM, and on that note I think I'll go ride!  :D

Thanks for trying, Jeff.

I found this evening a copy of the Cycle World Road Test for the 1982 VF750.  Mine is a 1984.  Should be pretty close.

It reported that the claimed (by Honda I assume) was 80.3 hp @ 9500 rpm and 46.2 lb. - ft for the torque

Sorry to say, my bike tested at considerably less.  However, we do not know if they were tested the same.

49.62 hp
30.55 Max torque

Will bring test results to Hot Springs with me and see if anyone has any comments or suggestions to offer.

Do you have a print out of the test? If so are there columns named beginning with SAE, STP, or DJ? It was explained to me at the Honda dealership that the DJ(DynoJet?) columns are what specs that are used in magazines and such. Even if your test was at the SAE setting it wouldn't bring the hp and torque readings up much if it was at the DJ setting.

I found the test done on Warp. The two columns marked are the ones I was told they use in magazines and such.

Mine did not have columns of figures, just three charts with a little text showing the results of the three tests.

However, at the top it does show    CF: SAE
Assume that means it was done the SAE method or whatever that means.

Machine was a Dynojet
