Just wanted to drop this in, just in case someone runs into the same problem.  I have a 1996 VF750C.  While riding, the bike would just lose all power and die.  After doing this for a while, then it got to where when you tried to crack it, it would pop and lose all power.  Finally narrowed it down to the solenoid relay.  It was a give away, due every time I would try and start the bike you can hear and feel that relay pop.  Replace it, and now she runs better than when I got her.  I don't even have the flickering of the headlight like I used to.   Just FYI in case someone runs into the same problem.

There is a couple of relays on the bike.. Where is this one located?

Pondering how that would cause the problem you indicated.

Its the relay that the main fuse is located on.  When I took the seat off and tried to crank it, you could hear and feel it make a pop noise.  I would have to wiggle the wiring harness that plugs into it to get the power to come back on.  I inspected the wiring harness, and could not find any short.  I decided to change it out, and now the problem is gone.

$10 fix.. Pretty sweet.. It was all the BS you had to go thru to figure out it was the $10 part that was tough!
