What was the difference in highway gas mileage with a 17 tooth front sprocket on verses the stock 16 tooth sprocket and what did it do to your RPM's?

I'm not sure I saw a lot of mileage difference when I was running a 17.
I never did take a long trip with the 17 (But that is what I bought it for.
it will drop your RPM's about 500 RPM's

I would be shocked to learn that it makes a measurable difference.  At highway speeds, you are basically taking energy from gasoline and dissipating it in air turbulence.  The efficiency of the engine in doing this may be slightly higher at lower RPM (and could be lower), but other factors will overwhelm this small difference.  Wind speed and direction, air density (altitude & humidity), even what you are wearing will have bigger effect.

My opinion, of course, but not pure conjecture.

Thanks, I re-read the thread. The larger tire I am running lowered my RPMs a bit, seemed to help my mileage also. Even with my larger tank I am still looking for gas all the time. I need to drill the hole in the neck of the tank to fill up the tank a little more, how much extra were you able to put in your tank Hoot?

Terry, you get just a bit more fuel.. The big bonus is it takes less time to fill up.. you don't have to wait for the tank to vent to add more fuel.. You just fill it up, and done..
