Thought I had a Harley this morning when I went out for my ride. Purple fluid on the left side of the frame near the footpeg area. Also found some at the bottom of the 'V' on the engine.
I checked the radiator and the fluid was at the neck, checked the reservoir and it was normal.
Is it possible there is a thermostat and it is not working?
How old is the antifreeze and how cold was it where she was parked those would be my first ???
Check all your hose clamps in the winter things of course shrink and sometime well alot during the winter when it gets cold if the engines on our boats sit for a while the hoses leak at where the clamps are just need to tighten them up and we are up and running so I would check that first!!!!
I found the leak. There is a pipe that goes across the bottom of the 'V' in the middle of the engine that has a seal on each side. The slow leak happens when it gets warmed up from the seal on the brake side of the bike. I will have to look at the manual to see what is involved in replacing that seal. I put a rag in there to sop up what comes out. Anyone see any problem with that?
I smell a wrench session.

Well just looking at the manual looks like O rings should not be too bad ....
Bob I concur I believe its held in with the sealing O-rings, check with Lowell he has accomplished this maintenance on his Super..

I ordered the rubber seals from Maxim Honda in
Allen on line and got them within a week in the mail. After getting a briefing from Lowell Thursday night I got the seals replaced in about an hour during commercials. It was a real easy job, biggest problem was the mess from the leaking fluid when I disconnected the tube between left and right.
