Just bought the small engine guard for my bike and I'm needing some ideas on what others are using as highway pegs on their bikes. My daily commute to work involves about 40 miles on the interstate, so I need something to let me stretch out some.
I'm buying Kuryakyn products (Flame stytle) mostly, but don't mind if it's different. And also plan at a later date to add running lights to the engine guard.
What I have and like
I am using the Kuryakyn footpegs with the offset mounts like this:

These will mount on the Hondaline engine guards nicely and the offset part let's you swivel it around to adjust for leg length. I'm 5' 7" and even I wouldn't want to the pegs mounted directly on the same plane as the engine guard. I have mine swiveled toward the front to get just the right amount of leg stretching room.
You have a couple of issues to keep in mind. The Hondaline engine guards are narrow so you need 1 1/8" (it's either that or 1") Quick clamps to go around the guards and hold everything on. You'll get your best price by buying everything in a kit; the clamps, the offsets, and the pegs of your choice. I went with the traditional small pegs because they're all I need and they don't throw off the looks or balance in my opinion.
My recommendation would be to call Kuryakyn and find out what the 4 digit part number is for the combination of goodies you want. Then go buy them here:

They have the best prices on Kuryakyn parts I've seen and you can look it up by Kuryakyn's part number.
Another type of offset
Another thing I just saw on Kuryakyn's site is a variation of the offset swivel peg:

I prefer this one because it angles back in. The problem you'll find with the offsets I have is that by the time you put them on the hondaline engine guards and then fold out the pegs, your feet are pretty far from the bike. Because these offsets appear to curve back in they'll keep your feet closer to the bike and more stable.
The quick clamps
I was in a pinch when I was changing out my footpegs and had to buy the clamps to go around the Hondaline bars separately at a local store. All they had were some 3 piece clamps instead of the Kuryakyn quick clamps. Stay away from these! They are a major pain to put on and took so long I realized why Kury calls theirs quick clamps! I would have glady paid the extra $10 a piece.
Running lights (additional after my first post)
I have the small Kuryakyn silver bullets but haven't yet added them to my bike. I thought about putting them on the engine guards but decided against it for a few reasons. 1)The wiring will be obvious and difficult to hide. 2) I want my extra lights to turn with bike where I have the handle bars pointed on low speed manuevers. 3) If something back should happen and you actually slide on an engine guards I don't want to lose my expensive lights as well.
Mouning them on the fork tubes will allow them to point where I'm turning the bike. However, there's only two places to mount them where they will clear the radiator when turning. One place is near the existing turn signals. I don't want to do this because the lights are so bright that at night they will wash out the turn signals so oncoming vehicles won't be able to tell if you plan to turn in front of them.
The second place is right under the brace where the brake line crosses over. I plan to mount them on the inside of the fork tubes there. This should keep them out of sight and harms way for the most part and overcome all the other disadvantages I mentioned.
My two cents.
