I'm going to get some aluminum clamp on pegs for an engine guard. Would you guys put some rubber between the clamp/chrome to protect the chrome? Or is chrome tougher than I think?
I don't want to wear a mark on that portion of the guard, incase I want to remove the clamps later or move them.
I figure maybe the rubber will help eliminate some vibes...but probably not make a huge difference.
Any foot peg I have clamped to chrome has left some sort of mark on the chrome. Sometimes depending on the clamp it may not be very noticable but I could always tell. Rubber should work as long as you have some good stiff stuff. I would imagine it may reduce some vibrations as well but probably not enough to make it worth doing if that were your only reason.
It never hurts to try the rubber and see if you can clamp tight enough to keep the pegs from rotating when you put your feet on them.

I picked up some cheap ones that attached to the engine garde. I did not like them they where to close so they where not comfortable. The few times I used them, I laid my legs on top of them. So get some feedback before buying some.
Black electrician's tape is what I've used on mine. Just a PITA to get the glue off, if you remove it.
I used plastic from a pop bottle. cut the size you need. Works good.
