So I was talking to my brother about trying to do a camping trip...which led to how to pack stuff on the bikes. I don't have a sissy bar or passenger seat.
But there is that bolt on the fender...so we got to thinking about what else we could bolt on there to help hold stuff. Thoughts ranged from a piece of wood with supports, to a milk crate...
Anyone have any good ideas that have worked well? I realize it may not "look" all that great, but I've always leaned to function over form.
Dan a setup that worked for me was a M/C Enterprises luggage rack and a Large Expandable T-bag. Kristi and I packed it full (probably more than rated hehehe) and were good for 4 days. But we also had leatherlyke saddlebags to boot.
Talk with Bob for packing a Magna he is the MASTER at carrying all sorts of things on his Magna hehehehe.

Well, since you brought it up, I went golfing yesterday and of course traveled on the Magna with the golf clubs.
When my wife had the restaurant I would deliver sometimes and had a milk crate type of box I put on the passenger seat and strapped it down with a bungy net, they are very handy. I shopped for her at the oriental store and packed 20 lb bag of rice, canned goods and vegetables using the net type stuff.
However, when I pack tent stuff I always use the rachet type tie downs. I hook to the frame by the passenger pegs and my passenger back rest. If you put a crate on the passenger seat for a long trip I would put some type of protective pad between the crate and the seat.
Another thing I use for the camping trips is a large canvas bag (see military stuff) and pack it carefully with sleeping bag, clothes and utensils, being sure to put the cloth stuff in large trash bags in case of rain.
I have the luggage rack on the back of the Magna also, but I have been able to pack everything I need for a trip that way. A plus when using the canvas bag, if packed full and properly you can use it as a backrest for those long trips.
The situation Allen referred to, I had a conference in Corpus Christy two days before Moot Mag and could not make it home before so drove down there with bag and baggae. The conference included a golf outing so I packed the clubs as well. I have never had any trouble packing the Magna. I just follow one rule, tie everything down well.
Speaking of Corpus I am taking off Monday afternoon and heading down to Corpus and coming back Wendsday have to install a computer on a new Boat and my company has been nice enough to give me the card and let me take my bike and pay me for it .HOW SWEET IS THAT!!!!!!!
Did you see me, Allen? I was in Corpus all last week. Not on the bike though. Saw a bunch of tugs and barges so I thought about you! We were camped on 181 just north of the Harbor.
