Its been 3 1/2 weeks since my ankle injury and it is getting better. And while the body does a great job at healing itself, unfortunatly motorcycles don't. I guess it has been about 5 weeks since my magna was running, and I'm ready to get going again.
So . . . anyone have any guesses on where to start? The battery was getting low from trying to start it (would turn over but no fire) so I need to get a battery tender. I also was planning on ordering the DD shim/jet kit. While I did have a mechainc put in dynajets just a few months back, it obviously didn't fix the problem. I figured if I was going to work on the carbs I might as well do it then. I'm not even sure that is the problem, but it is the first shot.
I can move around a little to work, but my greatest deficency is lack of knowledge. So Gloveberg, if you are still willing, I'd welcome any help. I know its summer so schedules are busy, so that may affect any open weekends. I also am heading into DFW next weekend, so I could cart it around. I'm not looking for a handout of course, and would be willing to compensate anyone for their time. Just seems better to have one of you wrenchers work on it as opposed to a mechanic who is unfamiliar with the Magna. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks! dc
Great to hear your doing better DC and yes the offer is most definately still open. I am starting my weekend shifts at work (the main reason I missed MOOT MAG this year) but I can do the short ride up to Sweetwater during the week if that's ok for you. For the next month one day during the week will work great for me because I won't have anything to do except keep my kids enetertained so I will need a break from them  . Before you haul it to Dallas let's you and me give them a look see and be sure they are right. Getting them off and checking them is not hard and that way we will get a good baseline to where they are at.
I'm not too familiar with Sweetwater but it's not that hard to get around so I should have no problem finding your place so just get a week day that you will be available and shoot me the directions to your house. I will be off Monday and Tuesday of this next week but if you want to get the DD kit in first that's fine too. Let me know and we'll get on it.
Jimmy
Gloverberg-
I was hoping you would say that! I know you offered your services earlier, but I didn't want to assume anything. I just got off with the folks at DRP, and the jet/shim kit is on the way. To be honest, I don't know what the previous mechanic did to the bike, but I hope it is not beyond repair. I remember someone mentioning that the Dynokit requires drilling, and that is what he installed. I just hope I can get it running good!
As far as when we can meet, I'd like next Monday or Tuesday, but accorcing to DRP the package might not arrive until Tuesday. It probably will come in before then, but I can't be sure. Don't know if you want to tentivly plan for Tuesday or not. Also I have a few little ones so we have a kid friendly house (toys, trampolone, etc.).
Oops . . . just tried to clear that date with the boss (so she could aid with my/your kids) and I forgot I have a dr. appointment for my ankle. So if we want to do it then, activity could not begin until around noon.
Also, crippled or not, I am supposed to be going on a family vacation the next week (June 23-29). Someone will be at the house, but not me! I'll be hobbling around Dripping Springs, Ak. Don't think I'll be water skiing yet, but I'll at least be in a boat.
Anyway, I really appreciate the help. Let me know if you have any other thoughts/ideas. Thanks again, dc
