Title: Valve noise
Post by: Aurox on June 23, 2007, 09:26:53 PM
OK, since getting back from MOOT MaG #5, I have managed to replace my BALD rear tire.  However, I seem to have developed valve noise since my return.

My question is, could it be valve adjustment being needed or is it possible that I may have more serious problems arising like an oil blockage and no lubrication to some of the valves.  Oil is full.

Could I damage engine by riding before checking it out?

Ray if the power is not down on it and its not smoking and the noise level is faint you are probably OK to ride, just dont run up the RPM's to 9K and sit there too long LoL.

Power is fine, no smoking, just sounds like what I used to call in older cars a stuck lifter (back in the hydraulic valve lifter days).  A very consistent ticking.

However, I think it is quite noticable.
