Title: If anyone can help...
Post by: Instructor50 on July 08, 2007, 09:34:30 AM
I recently put ape-hangers on my Magna...I know what you are thinking...WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?   Well, I like going fast but sitting back nice and comfy along the way.

My question is, I measured the cable length needed but I am nervous about ordering some cables and still not having the right size.

I would much rather find out the stock length and then take the difference of the rise & width of my new bars and just add that length to the cables.  I just trust that more.

Does anyone know the stock length for the following cables on a 96 Magna: Throttle push/pull, clutch, and brake?

If not no sweat, I'll take my chances with my measurements.

They are High handle bars sometimes high enough to make you look like an ape hanging from a bar. ie Ape hangers.

I'll send pics when it's done so you guys can see the look.  I installed the bars and I think it fits nice.

We'll see.

Seems like your hands would go numb just getting out of the driveway....   I know mine do with the stock bars given enough time in the saddle

I know it seems wierd for that type of bike to have ape-hangers but what can I say...it's me.

That's one of the things that I really like about the Magna.  I have the speed of a sport-bike (relatively) with the comfort of a cruiser.  The bike I used to have had ape-hangers on it and I don't recall any numbing...but who knows it has been a while since I rode with them.

Not my style but wth. Ride your own ride as they say. Keep all the take-off stuff and you can go back if it turns out badly.

The push pull cables are the same length the housing is 41&1/8 inches and the cable is 47 inches long. The clutch cable housing is 40&1/2 inches long and the cable is 45& 1/2 inches long. There is no brake cable just brake lines I didn't have those on hand to measure. I measured these off of a 94 Magna I am sure the 96 is the same hope this helps.
