Title: adjusting the shifter peg for boots or big feet

i seen a how to someware but cant remember were i seen.....when i ride with sneaker's on i have n/p get'n my foot under the shifter peg but now with the weather change'n here it's time for boot's and i also found it more comfortable with boot's...only problem is i cant get the toe of my boot under the shifter peg and have to try and use the side of my boot to shift which does not work well sometime's....i have the Mapam forward control's on but would think the procedure would be the same correct....any help would be great.....i have a friend who say's he can cut the shaft  but if i can just adjust it i'd much rather go that way
