Hi,
Since Dobie has already graced my bike with risers and a centerstand I was wondering if anyone has ever asked him if he could produce a larger gas tank for Magnas. I know a few people have married the Valk and Magna tank but being able to just order one up without all of the time involved in fabricating one from scratch would be great. I love the bike but I would really enjoy a longer range, especially since my Mustang seat lets me ride a long haul w/out monkeybutt. Probably just wishful thinking but I thought I would ask...
I love the convenience of the larger tank. Sunday I left the house with 40 miles on the tank, took the long way to Irving and back (3 hours) then around town and have gone to work and still have not gone on reserve.

I'm envious :)
How much work was it to fabricate? Where did you find the donor Valk tank? Thanks.
Joe
I bought a used auxiliary 2-gal tank which mounts on the luggage rack, with the intent of using it for measurements to have some fabricated for sale. Unfortunately, the prices I was quoted from fabricators put it out of any reasonable price range, so I scrapped the idea. I do, however, still have the 2-gal tank on my own luggage rack, and it is really nice to have close to a 250-mile range.
dc112675 started the joining project but stopped just before the final commitment. I gave him my near perfect tank for his damaged Magna tank and a valk tank he bought (I assume from the Internet). Long story short my wife wanted me to paint the bike so my father-in-law paid to have the tank modified. (Cost I don't know) I have there phone number. They will do a much better job if you can leave the tanks and the bike to make everything fit and it will look awesome. At the place that painted the tank their welder said he would never attempted such a delicate job of such thin metal that is on the gas tank. I posted on the marketplace pages about a tank that is for sale. http://www.magnaownersoftexas.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1542 I don't know what size tank it is or if that is a good price or not.
The paint is still in the drying process so the last time I put gas in I did not fill it but I could see the gas in the tank. I think I could have put almost another gallon in to fill it. I went on reserve today at 230 miles. I have right at 1 gallon for reserve. I figure that I will go about 40-45 miles on reserve. I have decided to go 30 miles take a gas can empty the Magnum Magna tank at the gas station. Then fill it to the reserve then fill it up.
