I get the V65 "purple people eater" here to the house a month ago and happen to look into the gas tank. 'Ol Bubba has taken it upon himself to perform one of his stellar Kreem jobs (I don't know for sure that it is actually the Kreem product) on the inside of the tank. I see that the lining is bubbling up and releasing. Great.
I take the tank over to my paint guy, Buster Powers, and tell him to clean it up. Some paint stripper, 3 feet of swing set chain and a whole lot of shaking yields some treasure.
Somewhere along the way wrestling must have come on TV and Bubba decide not to pour out the excess Kreem because Buster got two "Vienna sausage" sized chunks out as well as all of the skinlike peelings. This stuff had rust scale all over the back of it. Hello Bubba, read the instructions and use the conditioner first goofball.
Thank goodness the Magna gods kept a good fuel filter in place and I was able to avoid contamination of the smaller reserve tank.
God save the MOOTsters from idgitz!!!
Heh, bubba strikes again. Glad you got it all cleaned out. I guess his motto was "any job worth doing is worth screwing up" or "I think I'll have a few beers and kreme that tank tonight".
Curtis
He probably prefaced it with, "Hold my Beer and watch this" LoL.
The sad part is that I looked in the tank and didn't see any of it  Can't remember if the PO said he or someone else did the Kreme job.
David, besides the tank is everything else good with the bike?

You know, I asked John Boy if that was some of his work and he said' "No". My guess is that it was the original owner, the one who painted the Magna purple in the first place.
Purple. With my red/green color blindness, I really thought the thing was blue when I bought it.
Don't fret over the Kreem job. Buster told me that when he dried out the tank initially that the lining laid back down just as nice as you please. John had just got done filling the tank with gas before you got on it to test ride. Anybody would have missed it.
As far as other items go, it's just been a few pesky things like fixing the speedometer, flushing out the rest of the fuel system, hose replacement, filter replacements, oil, rear end lube and so forth. I expected to roll some money into the beast. It's not realistic to assume that that is ever going to end.
Right now, I'm just "chomping at the bit" waiting for the tank, side covers and rear cowl to be finished. I've been riding the "V" around the neighborhood at night on just the reserve tank. At 3,000 rpm you can feel it just wanting to eat up the street.
I look forward to taking it out on some winding road down in Ellis County.
Keep yur rubber on the road my friends.
