Title: Speedometer
Post by: WayneCowen on December 02, 2007, 09:53:49 AM
82 V45  33K.  Speedometer has started "growling" loudly.  Thought it was probably the cable or the drive unit at the wheel.  Disconnected cable at the back of the speedometer.....the noise stopped.  I can observe the cable continuing to spin.....and to vary in rpm with the speed of the bike.
Soooo.....now thinking that my problem is with the drive inside the speedometer unit itself.  Anyone have any ideas for me as to further trouble shooting, repair, or relacement.  TIA

Might be a bushing. Light oil may work, powder lube. When I tried oil many years ago it seemed to mess up my reading.
