I purchased and finally received some braided line covers off ebay of varying sizes for my lines up front. They actually look really good, and I just couldn't justify getting real stainless braided lines. I've already spent more on the bike than I should have. You measure them to length, then cut with a hot knife or soldering gun and install using shrinkwrap on the ends. I have some questions, though, before I begin. I'll be doing the throttle cables, the brakeline, the clutch cable, and I guess that's about it. Can I take the clutch cable off at the lever by loosening the nut, then loosening the actual cable until it comes out and then putting the cover on it? How about the throttle cables? Do they come out of the grip so I can slip a cover over them? And last but not least, the brake line. What will happen when I take the line off from the resevoir? I'm guessing the brake fluid from the resevoir will leak out of it. I think I can just take the cover off and replace the lost fluid. Anything else you can think of that I might have missed will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
clutch cable no problem but you cant just take your brake line off and put it back on....you'll have to bleed it....and cover's dont keep the line's from flex'n like real stainless do which is why you would get them...not just for look's.....bike can look great and all dress'd up but aint no good if it dont operate safely
Steve sounds easy enough for the throttle and clutch, on the brake side I would recommend a mini-vac to keep the mess down but can be done without it.
Be a good time to flush the entire line and all and the mini-vacs work GREAT for this as you will have fits trying to bleed it the old fashion way, LoL.
Greg, where to purchase mini-vac and approx. price?
Thanks.

Auto Zone has them for $20 - $25, not sure about other stores or web sites.
Well, I'm having more trouble with this than I anticipated. The covers don't want to stretch over the fittings on the end of the cables. I tried the clutch line first, and I needed the largest cover they sent to get over the fitting on the end. I have no idea how you'd get over the brake line fittings. I've emailed the manufacturer to see what they suggest. The line did look good over the clutch, but I took it off until I find out about the other lines. BTW, I fully understand the difference between a cover for the lines and "the real thing.' I was born in the dark, but it wasn't last night.

i was not try'n to insult you at all and i'm sorry if you took it that way.....try some electical grease and work it like a snake...push a little on then pull....it will take some time....i know a guy who use'd spark plug wire heat shield on his line's to give e'm color and that's how he got e'm on
