Title: Headlight replacement
Post by: Charles S Otwell on January 27, 2008, 11:43:00 PM
I know I've read on here somewhere about replacing the headlight lamp on the third gens with a brighter silver something or other.. Anyone know which bulb I'm talking about?? I've been thru all 38 pages of the garage and can't find it. Help anyone! :-(

Do you still have the stock reflector? I replaced the bulb in mine with a brighter PIAA P/N 70416 (3800 Kelvin) bulb. It was definitely brighter but the filament placement was all wrong for the stock reflector (too far ahead of the focal point), so I didn't see much benefit with the new bulb until I installed a VTX1880C headlight on my bike. Using the same PIAA bulb, I got significantly better light output.
